Croatia – land of the future

Božo Skoko, Expert on the branding of destinations, University of Zagreb, Faculty of Political Sciences
Five Stars Croatia Issue 2 — April 01, 2007.

Croatia is still a relatively unknown country in the global context. This is hardly surprising taking into account that following three centuries of historical existence, Croatia “resurrected” as an independent and sovereign state only a decade and a half ago.

Istria – The Home of Spirit and Beauty

Ivan Jakovčić, President of Istrian County
Five Stars Croatia Issue 2 — April 01, 2007.

Istria, the westernmost Croatian county situated practically in the heart of Europe, has recognized the blue, golden star spangled European flag as its own. We hope Europe will in turn recognize this tame region, around which the Adriatic Sea goes farthest into the European mainland or, as we say, it is in Istria that the Europeans descended to the warm sea.

Media and Tourism or Pulling the Rabbit out of the Hat

Dragutin Lučić Luce, Croatian Journalists’ Association president
Five Stars Croatia Issue 2 — April 01, 2007.

Croatian media deeply believe that Croatian tourism is actually rabbit pulled out of the hat. That idea is, more or less, shared by the Croatian public in general. There were hardly any attempts to analyze, with some seriousness, the correlation between media and tourism.

Tastes of wine throughout history

Davor Zdjelarević, Owner of winery Zdjelarević
Five Stars Croatia Issue 2 — April 01, 2007.

Wine is the most significant of drinks in every wine producing country. Its taste however and the manner in which it is enjoyed has changed considerably since the day man first had a taste of a divine drop. Historical writings from Greek and Roman times have familiarized us with the way in which wine was stored and made way back then.

Transparency International's review on Croatia, 2007

Zorislav Antun Petrović, President of Transparency International Croatia
Five Stars Croatia Issue 2 — April 01, 2007.

According to geographical criteria Croatia is at the same time a Mediterranean, a Danube Region and a Central European country, which makes it one of the most interesting and, according to my subjective criterion, one of the most beautiful European countries. In terms of corruption, however, Croatia belongs to far more exotic countries.

Croatian hoteliers

Franco Palma, President of the Executive Committee of the Croatian Association of Hoteliers and Restaurateurs
Five Stars Croatia Issue 2 — April 01, 2007.

Croatia is all by all means a tourist country and it should be developing in that direction and profiling its offer with the state support. For starters, I would like to mention several key figures from the Croatian hotel industry sector.

Welcome to Osijek

Five Stars Croatia Issue 2 — April 01, 2007.

The river Drava is linked to Osijek, its citizens and its visitors. It is also linked to the city’s long history thanks to the creation of a beautiful promenade that extends almost along the entire length of the right bank of the river Drava.

Veljko Marton, Museum Marton
Five Stars Croatia Issue 2 — April 01, 2007.

The importance of art on our territories, but also anywhere else, appears the best in research of various forms of the same objects through various periods. The changes of color, objects and the manner of work in the course of various time periods are an evidence of development of society in general.
