Who is Ivan Zajc and what is his contribution to Croatian music?
The composer and conductor Ivan Zajc marked a whole period of Croatian music (Zajc’s Period, 1870-1914). He was the Director of the first permanent Croatian Opera (1870-89), Director and teacher in the School of the Musical Academy in Zagreb and composer of 1200 different compositions. His key work is the opera “Nikola Šubić Zrinski”.
