By whom, when and why was the construction of the fortress Medvedgrad above Zagreb approved?
The construction of the Medvedgrad fortress on the south slope of Mount Medvednice was approved by King Bela IV at the behest of the Bishop Filip, with the aim of protecting the city of Zagreb. Construction was finished in the year 1254.
