What are the amplitudes of high and low tide in the Adriatic Sea?

High and low tides in the Adriatic Sea have relatively small amplitude. In the southern part this difference rarely exceeds some 40 centimetres, while in the northern part it is somewhat larger, in Istra and the Gulf of Trieste coming to 1 metre. In some narrow canals and bays the tide can rise significantly during strong winds («Bura»). This is characteristic for the large and deep bays of the southern Adriatic.
