Towards which of two river basins do the majority of rivers in Croatia flow?
The significantly larger part of the rivers in Croatia flow towards the distant Black Sea. The Black Sea Basin covers 35,000 km2 or 62% of Croatia’s area. The Adriatic Basin is almost twice as small, is found in the Karst region, and as much as a third of its area is made up of closed basin areas without surface drainage towards the sea.
